The Murray Church Thrift Shop supports the Murray Unitarian Universalist Church. We believe that love is the spirit of this church and service its law. This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another.
The Murray Church Thrift Shop sells gently used clothing for women and men, as well as, small housewares, linens, jewelry, books, and giftware, all at bargain prices. We are completely staffed by our wonderful volunteers, and all of the money earned goes back into the general funds of the church.
We are located at Murray Unitarian Universalist Church, 505 North Main Street, in Attleboro.
The Murray Church Thrift Shop will close on days with significant weather and will be determined by the accessibility to the shop with customer safety in mind. Closure updates will be posted on the Murray Church Thrift Shop website, Facebook Page, and on WFTX, FOX 25, WCVB 5, WBZ 4, WHDH 7, and Rhode Island Broadcasters.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote and support the pursuit of environmentally sustainable practices in our congregation by providing our church members and community an outlet to upcycle gently used clothing and housewares; to give the community, especially those with limited incomes, a chance to purchase good quality new and used necessities at bargain prices; to reduce waste headed for landfills by responsibly donating our excess merchandise to other local charitable organizations; and to raise funds for Murray Unitarian Universalist Church.
Our Story
The roots of the Murray Church Thrift Shop lie in one of the service organizations of our church, the Clara Barton Guild. Twice a year, members of the Clara Barton Guild would run a rummage sale at the church. Their purpose was multifold, it gave the community, especially the less fortunate, a chance to purchase good quality new and used necessities at bargain prices, it was an opportunity to recycle gently used clothing and housewares for our church members and community, and it served as a fundraiser for our church and other charitable organizations. When the members of the Clara Barton Guild could no longer manage the rummage sales, the dream of opening the Murray Church Thrift Shop naturally evolved.
We were also influenced by the Murray Church Holiday Fair, especially by Almost Antiques, Grandma’s Attic, Grandpa’s Garage, and the Book Room. The bargains found in these rooms were welcomed by the surrounding community.
Today, we process, sort, tag, and merchandise the treasures that are donated to us. The items we can’t use, we donate in turn to organizations that do not landfill but also recycle. As a Green Sanctuary Church, we promote the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Some of the organizations we donate to are
- Clothes To Go
- Baystate Textiles
- Discover Book
- Attleboro animal shelter
- Indie Cycle
