Heretics? Yep, and Proud of It!

The Christian church first labeled Unitarians heretics as early as 325 AD, or Common Era (CE). For the next 1300 years, our faith forebears were burned at the stake as heretics for refusing to believe in the Christian Trinity. But, let’s take a closer look at the origin of the word “heretic.” It’s derived from a Greek word that means: able to contemplate and choose for oneself what to believe.

Are Unitarian Universalists heretics? If you consider the original meaning of the word, then, you bet! And proud of it! Every 3-4 years, we do a little exercise that demonstrates the wide diversity of beliefs held by folks in our congregation. Come join in the laughter and fun as we celebrate our religious freedom to decide for ourselves what we believe to be true!

Worship is at 10 am Sunday mornings. If you prefer — or if you are feeling sick — please log on to Zoom from the comfort and safety of your own home to be a part of our worship experience.
