Is the Brain Hardwired for God?

Using brain-imaging technology, researchers have begun to map what happens to the human brain during a religious experience. In observing Buddhist monks as they meditate, Catholic nuns as they pray and Pentecostals as they speak in tongues, one researcher found matching brain patterns among these significantly different religious experiences. What can brain science tell us about ourselves and our relationship with the holy? Does the experience of God, or deep human connection with the sacred, originate from inside the human brain? Or are our brains uniquely wired to detect and connect with something larger than ourselves?

Worship is at 10 am Sunday mornings. If you prefer — or if you are feeling sick — please log on to Zoom from the comfort and safety of your own home to be a part of our worship experience.
