November 14 – Potluck and a Movie

Saturday, November 14, 6 – 9:30 pm

Please join us to watch the documentary movie:  13th

It is a documentary about what happened after Congress passed the 13th Amendment to end slavery forever. Sounds good, right?

Well, the movie tells “the rest of the story.”

You’ll see how “involuntary servitude” was followed by

• more folks placed in prison
• limits on the right to vote (lots of limits)
• a “war on crime,” a “war on drugs”
• and something called Jim Crow — that’s a big one.

This 2016 documentary, 13th, by filmmaker Ava DuVernay won dozens of awards, including the Academy Award for Best Documentary.

So, please feel free to join your Murray friends in the Unity Room to:

• share a potluck dinner, sign up HERE
• watch a Critic’s Pick movie: its title is 13th
• and share good company and good conversation about the movie and more
