The Importance of Meaning

Sunday, November 15
Led by Rev. F. Vernon Wright V
Location: Sanctuary
We will be exploring the ideas of Viktor Frankl, particularly those contained in his seminal 1963 “Man’s Search for Meaning”.
Frankl was an inmate at Auschwitz and other concentration camps during WWII. Most of his family was killed. His harrowing experiences taught him some valuable lessons. If meaning is too focused and too tangible, such as belief in a dream that the Allies would liberate a camp in a particular month, it can backfire into depression when that dream is not realized. But if meaning is more focused on something like, seeing the beautiful sun another day, or doing an act of kindness however small, meaning can be extremely life affirming and empowering.
Join us this Sunday as we explore some of our own meaningful experiences. Think back on how something meaningful for you backfired. Think on how something meaningful for you enabled you to live a fuller richer life.
Service begins at 10 a.m. This is a hybrid service. Join us in the sanctuary or log on to Zoom from the comfort and safety of your own home to participate in our worship experience. Service ends at 11 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship.
We are a certified Welcoming Congregation and Green Sanctuary
