“Sabbath:  And on the Seventh Day, Even God Needed a Nap”

In the Book of Genesis, the opening chapters describe God creating the heavens and the earth, and all of the plants and animals of the earth, sea and sky, as well as Adam, the first human being, creating the entire universe in six days.  And, on the seventh day, the Bible reports, God rested. The fifth commandment asks us to remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. To stop our busyness and create some quality rest at least one day a week, so we can recharge ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.   In the spirit of Sabbath, our faith encourages ministers to take Sabbaticals – paid time off to refresh and recharge our ministries through retreats, workshops, reading, reflection, perhaps writing a book, traveling or any number of spiritually renewing activities. I want to tell you all about my upcoming Sabbatical plans.  My dear friend and colleague, Rev. Paul Sprecher, will be co-leading this service with me.

We will gather for in-person worship at 10:00 a.m. in our sanctuary or if you prefer — or if you are feeling sick — please continue to log on to Zoom from the comfort and safety of your own home to be a part of our worship experience.

If you are unvaccinated or are not comfortable gathering in person at this time, please plan to log on to Zoom to see the live streaming worship service.
